City of Warren Firefighter Hiring

The City of Warren is Seeking Qualified Applicants Without Regard to Race or Sex for the Position of Fire Fighter
Job Status: Sourcing
Job Rate:  Starting Salary $37,085/year, Maximum Salary $53,185 (after 4 years)
Requirements:
  • Age 21 or older by the closing date for accepting applications.
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in the State of Michigan.
  • Possess an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician License (A.E.M.T.) from the Michigan Department of Health.
  • Possess Fire Fighter I and II. 
At the time the eligibility list is certified, preference points will be added to a passing score for the following:

Education:
1 point-Certificate in Fire Science  from an accredited college or university.
2 points-Associate degree or higher degree in Fire Science from an accredited college or university.
To receive preference points, you must provide an official (sealed by the school) college transcript.

Veteran's Preference:

1 point for service during a period of war or receipt of an expeditionary or campaign service medal during an emergency condition, with an honorable discharge. You must provide a copy of your Form DD214 to qualify.
Must also pass a:
  • Written test administered by Empco Inc.
  • Oral board interview.
  • Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
  • Background investigation
  • Physical examination including drug screening and a psychological evaluation within the guidelines established by the City, as modified by current law.
 This is a full-time position and includes a generous benefit package, including a defined benefit pension plan.
Written Exam:
Applicants must create a profile, register and take the written exam to be administered by Empco Inc. Go to https://www.empco.net/testing  to create a profile, register for the written exam and pay the exam fee. Applicants must complete the online profile and take the written exam by March 21, 2016.
Application Process:
Applicants who score 70% or higher on the Empco written exam by the above deadline and meet Warren's preliminary requirements will receive an email instructing them to complete the City of Warren Fire Fighter application packet and bring it to the City of Warren Human Resources Department by the deadline stated in the email. You will be notified if you are scheduled for an oral board interview, and a two year eligibility list will be created.

We are pleased to announce that we will be conducting a Firefighter RecruitFire Red Maltese 72px testing process this year.  The 2013 testing process will begin with a recruitment period of August 26-30, 2013.  **Applications will ONLY be available during this five (5) day period.  Applications will ONLY be accessible on-line through the City of Phoenix Human Resources Website.  
The written portion of the testing process is tentatively scheduled for late September, 2013; you will be notified by e-mail with an invitation to the exam.  
Candidates who pass the written exam, will be placed on a Phoenix Fire Department Firefighter Recruit eligibility list.  For more information on the hiring process click here.

EMT Certification
Every Phoenix Firefighter is required to obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification.
CPAT - Candidate Physical Ability Test
Proof of successful completion of a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) from a licensed agency within 6 months is required at the scheduled date of your final selection interview.
Firefighter Recruit Training
Firefighter Recruit is an employment classification for entry level members assigned to the Phoenix Fire Training Academy for Firefighter Recruit Training.
Affinity Groups
An Affinity Group is a group of people formed around a shared interest or common goal who support each other and work together.  There are several groups associated with the fire department.  Please contact them directly.
Firefighter I & II Certification
Firefighter I & II Certification may be obtained from a number of sources.  To assist you we have identified a few.
Cadet Program
The Phoenix Fire Department Cadet Program was started in 1975. The purpose of the program is to provide cadets with hands-on emergency medical training, work experience at fire stations, training in firefighter skills and volunteerism for the community.

LAFD Firefighter Opening of the Firefighter Examination

Due to the City's budget situation, the anticipated opening of the Firefighter examination in the Fall of 2012 will be moved to the first quarter of 2013.
In the meantime, the LAFD is hosting Recruitment Seminars and prep programs on an ongoing basis. All recruitment seminars will cover the same basic information on the selection process, life on the job, and how to prepare. Therefore, you need attend ONLYone, if you so choose. Participation is NOT mandatory. The seminars are for general information. Gender/ethnicity-specific events will feature special guest speakers.
